Welcome to Dr Praveen Vijaysegaran
I’m a Queensland trained orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in upper limb surgery with subspecialist qualifications and a keen interest in shoulder arthroscopy and joint replacement.
I graduated with a triple degree in Medicine, Surgery and Biomedical Sciences from the University of Melbourne in 2009. I rotated through a number of Queensland-based hospitals as a junior doctor and orthopaedic trainee before received my FRACS in Orthopaedic Surgery from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2019. During this time, I also obtained a Master of Applied Science focusing on orthopaedic research from Queensland University of Technology. Over a 12-month period, I then completed the Australian Shoulder Athroscopy and Arthroplasty Fellowship at the Brisbane Private Hospital, Greenslopes Hospital, and Mater Adult Hospital South Brisbane.
My favourite rotation was the Ipswich General Hospital and I have chosen Ipswich and surrounding areas to commence my private practice. My rooms are located at the Pring Street Specialist Centre, which is directly opposite St Andrews Private Hospital; close to radiology, pathology and other specialists. More importantly there is ample free parking at the back.
My commitment to the Ipswich Region includes working at the Ipswich General Hospital, as the Director of Orthopaedics. I am also actively involved in the Ipswich Orthopaedic Outreach Program which visits Fiji on a regular basis providing free orthopaedic services to the public and training to Fijian doctors and medical staff.
